I only seen Voices so far. I love the story but I absolutely hate the character designs.
I haven't seen the Place Promised yet. I plan to though. It's in my netflix que. |

So you just don't like the graphics of the characters ? Considering the guy did it all by himself on his Mac, it's not bad. I guess I really don't think about the character's as much as the scenery and the story  I caught a bit of 5CM at Otakon and the bacgrounds and scenery are just amazing.
The Place Promised ... is probably more of the same. I'd be interested in your take on the character design in that movie. The story is a little bit confusing ... makes more sense when you watch it a second time.

| I have Place Promised in my queue. I will admit that one guy did a whole OVA by himself is awesome, but he character designs just....ew. It was as if a newbie at manga drew it. With place promised he had more people so it looks better. Voices is still on of my favorites in terms of story, its just painful to look at. |

Neither of those never really caught me. I was expecting something more when I seen those. |

Just got and re-watched 5cm per second ... wow. Yes I am biased as I love the rest of Shinkai's stuff, but this was really really good.
